A delightful tour in Fes

One of the four imperial Moroccan cities, well known for its rich intellectual, historical and cultural assets. Fes, a famous spot among tourists and a recognized World Heritage Location by the UNESCO, this spot is one of the highly recommended places for a family trip in Morocco for a good reason. The city is considered as a gallery by many people thanks to its various meaningful cultural and historical sites. So, let’s take a tour in this masterpiece:

The Medina:

Also labelled as the old city, a part of Fes with old-fashioned architecture made up of many traditional districts, such as Fes El Bali and Fes El Jedid. These two are the most famous ones among the sectors in El medina. The former was the core of Fes at a certain period of time, and the latter is an extension that was constructed later on in order to address increase in population, and promote economy development. Both zones contain many well-appreciated historical monuments. With that being said, a worthy family tour would start by taking a picture together in front of the marvellous portal that takes you to the charming dimension El Medina, Bab Boujloud. Once done, go inside the gate to witness the magic, and Inaugurate your odyssey by setting off to the museum Dar Batha that regroups many significant pieces of art from ancient Morocco. If you’re interested in getting souvenirs walk all along Talaa Kebira avenue that has numerous interesting shops. Once you finish your purchasing course, head to Fes El Jedid to visit El Mellah (also known as the Jewish sector), the royal palace named Dar El Makhzen, and the royal garden. Next, go to Fes El Bali and head toward mosque Al Andalous and Quaraouiyine to admire the classic architecture design, then, visit Dar Dbagh, a colourful tannery zone that will blow your mind. and if you still feel like you didn’t get enough, then embrace yourselves, another museum awaits you, this time the art offered here is bit different, it’s a weapons gallery called Musée des armes, that contains some very old-fashioned weapons that will make you think of the middle-age. If you still crave more, you can end your tour by going to the pottery quarter Aïn-Nokbi, where you will meet the finest craftsmen who inherited their art from their ancestors.

Preparations and leisure:

When it comes to planning a trip it’s a must to address three relevant factors: Transportation, lodging, food, and leisure activities. Pretty complicated right ?! but do not worry, Dollar is here to help.

When it comes to transportation, public transports are definitely a bad idea for families, therefore, renting a car is undoubtedly the right choice. Take a look at our fleet and rent the car that suits your needs the most. We suggest you to get one of our Familial & minibus vehicles in case you have many family members. Once this task is done, it’s time to decide where to stay. Here you can opt for one of two options: an hotel or a Riad (traditional Moroccan house with an inside garden or courtyard). For instance, check Hotel & Spa Riad Dar Bensouda, Dar Victoria, Palais Medina & Spa, and Riad El Yacout, one of them will surely be up to your taste. Furthermore, restaurants can be a bit tricky to pick, in case you want to eat something traditional then head to Le Jardin En Ruine (The ruined garden, a place where you can eat in a green environment), and Darori Resto. If you’re looking for something modern, then you might want to try Café Clock and restaurant La Cave (it’s a restaurant in that will make you want to come over many more times). Moreover, if you’re asking for Asiatic food, in this case Maison Moi Anan and Katana sushi are for you. Regarding activities in Fes, we suggest to go to Fes Country Club where you can practice many sports, such as tennis, basketball, volleyball, mini-football (soccer), swimming, fitness… and it also has a spa and a superb restaurant. In addition, you can visit Les Trois Sources, this place offers as much services as the previous one, but it also contains a playground for kids.

That was it for this guide, we hope that we made your journey a charming one.
