Habous – Dollar Morocco

During your stay in Casablanca, renting a car will be necessary. It will allow you to easily go to the Habous district, one of the most important spots in the city.

In the list of places not to miss in Casablanca, along with the Hassan II mosque, you will find an entire district : the Habous district. Located at the heart of Casablanca, just south the port, the Habous district is a relatively "new" neighborhood because it was built under the French protectorate, in the 20s. Respecting the traditional structure of a Moroccan medina, the Habous district is thus kind of a modern medina.

Souk, pastry shops and royal palace

Formerly a place of residence for the traders of the city, the Habous district is nowadays a popular neighborhood, where it is nice to wander. There, you will find shops of craft objects, pastry shops, tearooms, several bookshops, a souk, and even the royal palace. This one cannot be visited but you can admire the building from outside, before going to drink a mint tea at the terrace of a neighboring coffee.

The Habous district is not very big. To take advantage of it completely, it is however necessary to plan several hours on location, to have time to stroll.

A little advice from Dollar Morocco : rent a small car to go to the Habous district and to park easily.
