Exploring Agadir, the capital of the south

The white city, referred to as the capital of the south, Agadir one of the most interesting tourism locations in Morocco thanks to its various entertainment options and its delightful climate. Despite the fact that it was hit by an earthquake in the 1960, the city was renewed and outshined many other Moroccan cities in all aspects.

In this guide we will help you to plan your visit to Agadir step by step. An important thing to mention is that you will definitely need a car for this trip to make it way more comfortable for your family. After covering the basic points, it’s time to start the journey!

Let’s start the tour by discovering the cultural part of Agadir. First, head to the kasbah, a fortress built in 1541 and restored in 1740, one of the few buildings that survived the 1960 earthquake. Inside the Kasbah you can notice traces of houses since it used to host over 300 person back then. Today, this place is used as a sightseeing stop that gives you a unique panoramique view on the whole city. After discovering the first historical spot, it’s certain that you’re eager for more, do not worry the Medina Polizzi awaits you! Unlike the other Medinas in the kingdom this one is unique due to being rather recent than the others. Build in the 90s by Coco (Beato Salvatore) Polizzi, an Italian Master Craftsman Decorator, the artist succeeded in reflecting the same image of any other Moroccan medina from its winding streets to the bustling souks, this Medina is not to be missed. After this rich cultural experience, you might want to relax for a bit. The right place do so is Agadir’s wonderful beach for sure, a spot where you can close your eyes and listen to the sound of waves and feel peace going through your whole soul. Once you relaxed enough you can visit Toundoute, a valley surrounded by animals from south America, Asia and north Africa, be ready to be taken away by mother nature to a dimension filled with calming and refreshing energy. Another option to consider is Crocoparc, a zoological park and botanical garden over 300 crocodiles and hundreds of exotic plants from around the world. To take the tour a step further, visit Marina, a luxurious harbor which offers a wide selection of cafes, restaurants, stores, and a lovely seaside walk. If you’re up for more, you may want to head to Taroudant also called the mini-Marrakech, about 80 Km away from Agadir by car. A wonderful city, that your family will love, typical for sightseeing, and in case you want to buy souvenirs, then Taroudant offers numerous options through its lively souks.

With this we concluded this guide, and we hope that we made your trip more enjoyable.
